Should You Buy a New Changan X5 Plus or a Used Toyota RAV4 in 2026?
For the price of a used RAV4 with years and kilometres on it, you can import a new X5 Plus. Which is the better deal depends on your customers and your market.

Buy the new Changan X5 Plus if your customers value modern equipment and a zero-kilometre car. Buy a used Toyota RAV4 if your market prices Toyota's reputation and resale value above everything else and you can verify each car's history. The two are often similar in purchase cost, but they are very different products.
What do you get for the money?
A new 2026 X5 Plus comes at 0 km with current-generation equipment: on upper trims, twin 12.3-inch screens, a 360° camera and a panoramic sunroof. A used RAV4 at a similar budget will usually be several years old with significant mileage, and its condition varies from car to car. You are trading age and wear for brand reputation.
How do size and powertrain compare?
The fifth-generation RAV4 (sold from 2019) is about 4,600 mm long with a 2,690 mm wheelbase, and is offered with petrol and hybrid powertrains, some with all-wheel drive. The X5 Plus is 4,540 mm long with a slightly longer 2,715 mm wheelbase, front-wheel drive and a 1.5T petrol engine. If your customers need all-wheel drive, the RAV4 has an advantage; for city and highway use, the X5 Plus offers comparable cabin space.
| New Changan X5 Plus 2026 | Used Toyota RAV4 (5th gen) | |
|---|---|---|
| Condition | 0 km, factory new | Varies by unit: age and mileage |
| Length / wheelbase | 4,540 / 2,715 mm | About 4,600 / 2,690 mm |
| Drive | Front-wheel drive | FWD or AWD, by version |
| Powertrain | 1.5T petrol, 7-speed DCT | Petrol or hybrid, by version |
| Main selling point | New car, modern equipment | Brand reputation, resale |
What about parts and service?
Toyota's parts network is wider in most export markets, which is the RAV4's strongest argument. For the X5 Plus, check local parts availability before committing to volume — or plan a parts order alongside your vehicles. Because the 2024 and 2025 X5 Plus share the same engine, gearbox and tyre size, a mixed X5 Plus fleet keeps parts stocking simple.
Which is better for fleets?
For new fleets, a batch of identical new X5 Plus cars gives you a known starting condition and consistent specification across every vehicle. A fleet of used RAV4s will vary unit by unit. If you prefer used vehicles for cost reasons, consider used Changan X5 Plus units, which we quote individually with photos and video.
The bottom line
In markets where Toyota commands a strong resale premium, a used RAV4 may hold its value better. Everywhere else, a new Changan X5 Plus usually gives your customers more car for the money.
